New direct flights Germany – Panama from March 2022

Eurowings Discover, the new airline of Lufthansa group, will offer direct flights between the city of Frankfurt (Germany) and Panama as of next March 27, 2022.

The airline will offer 3 weekly frequencies on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday; and the itinerary will be Frankfurt– Panama FRA 11:50 – PTY 16:40 on flight LH4394 and Panama – Frankfurt PTY 19:05 – FRA 13:35+1 on flight LH4395.

With these flights, Tocumen International Airport (PTY) will be receiving four European routes: Madrid (MAD) by Iberia and Air Europa, Paris (CDG) by Air France (CDG), Amsterdam (AMS) by KLM and Frankfurt by Eurowings Discover.

Update: entry requirements to Panama

According to the latest official report from the Panamanian authorities, and under the executive decree No. 17 of February 16, 2022, travelers who enter Panama by air, sea or land must have the complete vaccination schedule for the COVID 19 or at least have received two of the doses “according to the national vaccination program approved by their country of origin or provenance”.

Travelers vaccinated with at least two doses must digitally record proof of their vaccination prior to travel, or present the physical vaccination card at the port of entry to the country.

On the other hand, travelers who are not vaccinated or who do not have at least two doses of the COVID 19 vaccine, must present a negative PCR or antigen test with less than 72 hours.

The Patrimonial Route: Birds in Paradise is strengthened

In the Panamanian territory, 1,009 species of birds have been reported – 10% of the world’s species and 107 endemic species, which exceeds the combined list of the United States and Canada.

For this reason, the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP) and the Panama Audubon Society signed a cooperation agreement to develop the “Birds in Paradise Heritage Route”, highlighting places for birdwatching in the different provinces such as the Chagres National Park., the Soberanía National Park, the Camino de Cruces National Park, the Altos de Campana Biological Reserve, the Metropolitan Natural Park and the coastal area of ​​the Canal, in Panama City; the Marine National Park, in Bocas del Toro; Punta San Lorenzo, in Colon; the Volcán Barú National Park in Chiriquí; and the Darién National Park (UNESCO Biosphere Reserve).

Cerro Ancon opens its doors to the public again

The Ministry of the Environment of Panama informed that Cerro Ancon can be visited again, after the rehabilitation works on the road to the communications tower located at the top of the hill and where the largest Panamanian flag in the country is located.

This protected area will maintain visiting hours from Monday to Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Reopening of El Charco Trail in the Soberania National Park

After several months closed, for rehabilitation works, the Ministry of Environment also announced the reopening of the El Charco Nature Trail, in the Soberania National Park. This trail has a route of 0.8 square kilometers, and presents a secondary forest with high biological diversity, a waterfall and a natural pool of crystal clear waters.

During the walks along the trail it’s possible to see species such as howler monkeys, sloths, anteaters, ñeques, owls, motmots, toucans, trogons, Morpho butterflies, woodpeckers, iguanas, among others.

The trail is open Tuesday through Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and has a daily capacity of 40 people.
