In 2026, the Panama Stopover program aims to reach 250,000 visitors and extends the stay period from 7 to 15 days at no additional airfare cost.

Copa Airlines, a subsidiary of Copa Holdings, S.A. and a member of the global Star Alliance airline network, together with the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP), PROMTUR Panama, and Tocumen International Airport, inaugurated Sala Panamá—an experiential, digital, and interactive space designed to invite transit passengers to discover Panama and include the country as part of their next trip through the Panama Stopover program.

“With the Sala Panamá experience, we aim for every passenger transiting through the Hub of the Americas® to have a first connection with our country, even before leaving the airport. This experience allows us to showcase part of Panama’s cultural, natural, and tourism richness and to encourage more travelers to turn their layover into a real visit. Through the Panama Stopover program, we continue working with authorities and industry partners to strengthen the country’s tourism promotion and generate more opportunities for the Panamanian economy,” said Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines.

Among the available experiences are an interactive map featuring 13 iconic destinations in Panama—from the capital city and historic sites to nature, beach, cultural, and gastronomic experiences—as well as audiovisual content and immersive experiences inspired by some of the country’s most notable landscapes.
